QR Code "Mystery" Magnet & Coaster - Mighty Minis & Shenanigangstas April '21

 

I decided to do something a bit different this month and create a "mystery" piece. This is a QR code which (when scanned by a device with a camera) will lead you to something special on the internet. Just keep in mind what month this piece was made for and it'll never let you down!

Mighty Minis get a magnet made from Perler mini beads and Shenanigangstas get a giant coaster made from regular Perler beads backed with cork. These make great conversation pieces and are ready to share with family, friends or strangers to love and enjoy!

Angry Birds Keychain and Slingshot Caddy! Jan '21

 

It's been 10 years since Angry Birds hit the scene, can you believe it? As one of the top franchises to usher in mobile gaming a decade ago, its still going strong. There's even a couple of Angry Birds movies, with the sequel being claimed as the best videogame-to-film adaptation so far (though I assume Sonic the Hedgehog may have something to say about that).

In light of their achievements, this month's theme celebrates the success of the Angry Birds! Red is ready to go as a Mighty Mini keychain made from Perler mini beads. Shenanigangstas get a slingshot caddy made from Perler beads, handstitched with embroidery floss.

2020 Dumpster Fire Ornament & Stand Up - December '20

I couldn't think of a better way to send off the dumpster fire that is 2020 than with a literal dumpster fire, so December's Mighty Mini is exactly that! Made from Perler mini beads and an affixed red ribbon, the flaming 2020 dumpster ornament will remind you each and every year that despite all the insanity, you somehow made it through!

 Shenanigangstas get even more 2020 dumpster fire goodness with this stand-up made from Perler beads! Included on the base are some reminders of what made this year so "special", such as murder hornets, a face mask and a BLM protest sign!

To celebrate the 19th anniversary of the original Xbox, November 2020's Mighty Mini is an Xbox controller ornament! Yes, marvel at the mass of the "Duke" style controller and its mysterious black and white buttons! Fun fact, the original Xbox controllers have more buttons than all other Xbox consoles.

Anyway, this ornament is made from Perler mini beads and is ready to hang with its bright green ribbon!

Mighty Minis & Shenanigangsta September '20 - Super Mario Kart!

 

This month in 1992, Super Mario Kart was released for North America on the SNES. It's wild success proved Mario and the cast of characters were a force that could dominate just about any game genre. In honor of such an influential title, this month's Mighty Minis (and FIRST) Shenanigangsta beadsprites are the brothers-in-karts!

For the Mighty Minis, we have Luigi racing along as a magnet made from Perler mini beads. Shenanigangstas get a stand-up sprite of Mario claiming victory at Rainbow Road!

Link & Triforce Keychain - August '20 Mighty Minis

 

This month in 1987, one of the best games ever on the NES, The Legend of Zelda, was released in the US and Europe. This truly epic title has influenced gaming ever since, and I'm honoring it this month with a new keychain.

Here we see Link standing triumphant in the first dungeon, having just found a piece of the Triforce. 

Yes, the colors of Link himself aren't exactly the same as the original game. Much like the programmers back then, I'm working with limitations too. Hopefully in the near future, I'll be able to afford the amazing array of colors from Artkal, but for now I've got the entire Perler minis palette (limited as it is) at my disposal.

Minecraft Diamond Keychain - July '20 Mighty Minis!

To celebrate the upcoming opening of my modded Minecraft server, this month's Mighty Mini is none other than the iconic diamond! Show off your bling (or love for the game) wherever you go with this keychain!

This month is the 25th anniversary of Earthbound... which serves as another reminder of just how old I'm getting! Anyway, I made a Ness keychain!

May '20 Mighty Minis - Dr. Mario Red Virus Coaster!

Sticking with the pandemic theme another month, I figured it's time to actually portray a virus. Here's the little bugger itself - the red virus from the classic puzzle game Dr. Mario. 

Made from Perler mini beads and backed with self adhesive cork, this virus is safely contained to the point you could use it as a coaster! Unlike most of us, this thing seems pretty content on being in lockdown.

April '20 Mighty Minis - TP Roll Keychain!

This month I'm highlighting one of the more ridiculous things happening during the Covid-19 pandemic - the panic buying of toilet paper! Let us never forget to keep a few rolls in stock, as you never know when something will come along and send the public into a TP tizzy!

Patrons of my Mighty Minis tier will now at least always have a roll on hand, though I wouldn't recommend using it in that way. Maybe you can use it to hold the keys to your own personal vault of "white gold". :~P

March '20 Mighty Minis - Doomguy Magnet!

To celebrate the release of Doom Eternal, March's Mighty Mini is a callback to the original Doomguy HUD face! This iconic piece of pixel art has been turned into a magnet, ready to protect your important documents (such as grocery lists, recipes and reminders).

February '20 Mighty Minis - Star Trek Magnet!

In honor of Star Trek Online's 10th Anniversary (and to a lesser extent, hopes that the new Picard series will be good), this month's Mighty Mini is a Star Trek magnet!

Made from Perler mini beads and adhesive magnetic backing, it's about the size of a communicator badge. Had I realized the size similarity (and had the appropriate hardware), I would've actually made these into pins instead. Something to consider for future projects, I guess!

January '20 Mighty Minis - Baby Yoda Coaster!

This month, I'm focusing on the success of The Mandalorian series and contributing to the Baby Yoda craze that has since swept the world!

Dr. Seuss was my favorite author as a child, and every holiday season I looked forward to watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It is with great pride that I present this month's Mighty Mini of the Grinch himself!

22 years ago this month, PaRappa the Rapper was released for the Playstation... can you believe it? In honor of what is often referred to as the first true rhythm game, November's Mighty Mini is PaRappa himself!

September '19 Mighty Minis - Area 51 UFO Magnet!

This month's Mighty Mini commemorates (or perhaps commiserates) the brave souls attending the infamous "Storm Area 51" Facebook event scheduled for September 20. This UFO with alien pilot proudly displays the number '51', suggesting it frequents the secluded location and maybe even visits their gift shop!

Made from Perler Mini Beads and magnetic backing, this UFO is ready to land on a locker or fridge near you!

August '19 Mighty Minis - Dragon Warrior Slime Coaster!

This month's Mighty Mini celebrates the 30th anniversary of the US release of Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) for the NES. Made from Perler beads, this coaster kicks off the adventure with everyone's first encounter - the iconic slime!

On a personal note, Dragon Warrior was undoubtedly one of my favorite RPGs for the system. I've never compiled a personal list of best NES games, but Dragon Warrior would easily make the top 25.

July 2019 Mighty Minis - Infringio Keychain

This month's Mighty Mini pays remembrance to the short-lived Mario Royale, which was later changed to DMCA Royale starring Infringio. Changing the names and assets apparently wasn't good enough for Nintendo, who sent the game's creator (Infernoplus) a cease & desist, thus shutting the entire project down.

Let this month's Mighty Mini serve as a reminder that Nintendo is a corporation and as such is out to maximize profits and protect their properties (sometimes to a ludicrous extent). They aren't your friends any more than the next company, and can be just as slimy as the others when the opportunity presents itself.

The Mighty Mini itself features Infringio leaping over a tombstone, symbolizing that his spirit (and that of indie developers) will live on. It is made using Perler mini beads.
