It's another double feature with a theme - the internet's favorite animal, cats!
First up is Zap Zap Zombie Cats, a tower defense game. It shows some promise, but it could use some tweaking. You can hear more of my thoughts on it at 1:38:20 in the video above.
Cat Quest is an action RPG that's been polished to a shine and is about as cute as it could possibly be without crossing the line into nauseating. It feels a bit short even for a demo, but gives you a small taste of what to expect. The art and presentation are fantastic, and the gameplay is competent enough to be fun (based on what little of it there was in the demo, that is).
Here it is, the big announcement! It's time to push for that goal of getting a dedicated Minecraft server for my community!
For the next two weeks (starting April 14), I'm having a special offer. Join my Patreon at any tier to receive the following extras (in addition to the normal tier benefits):
A customized Thank You card!
A Shenanigans1930 avatar Perler beadsprite!
Access to a temporary Minecraft creative server and Discord voice channel to join me and the rest of my patrons for a special stream!
Adding extra time to the special stream (see details below)!
The piece itself will come with a ribbon for hanging (as seen in the video above)
Veteran patrons get these goodies plus some extra perks, like:
2-hour blocks of the special stream dedicated to each patron in turn!
The ability to ask me anything (AMA) during the duration of the stream!
The Special Stream
On Saturday, April 27 (exact start time TBA), I'm having a marathon stream to wrap up the special offer and to thank each and every member of my community, patron or not!
Any pledges between April 14 up until stream end will extend the total duration of the stream! The sooner you pledge, the more time you add!
April 14-20: +90 minutes
April 21-22: +60 minutes
April 23-24: +45 minutes
April 25: +30 minutes
April 26: +20 minutes
April 27: +10 minutes
All patrons may join the Discord voice channel and Minecraft creative server as they please for the stream duration (you must still follow all rules, so behave yourselves... at least a little)!
I'm super excited for this special offer and the upcoming marathon stream! I'd very much appreciate you joining my Patreon during this time, but frankly I'd be just as happy if you shared this post with all of your friends!
The Witness is an open world puzzle and exploration game that feels somewhat like an updated version of Myst. You awake on an island that's seemingly been abandoned, with all manner of unusual devices strewn about. Logic is vital to progression, as entire sections of the island are locked away until you can solve the puzzling nature of the devices.
The early areas of this game are right up there with Portal in terms of teaching the player, which is no small feat considering it uses no dialogue to do so! The difficulty spikes a bit later on, especially if your exploration takes you to an entirely different part of the island! Overall, The Witness seems like an interesting title that puzzle-solvers should be fairly entertained with. You can hear more of my thoughts on the game at 4:25:58 in the video above.
Gun Princess Zero is an action platformer that sits somewhere between Metroid and Mega Man (I'm calling it a Megatroid). You're a special agent sent in to hostile territory to locate and disarm four missiles. Overall, the game's not too bad, but it could use polish. My biggest gripe is the game's speed, which slows down and goes back to normal seemingly at random. You can listen to more of my thoughts on the game at 1:58: 41 in the video above.
To celebrate the release of Double Dragon on the NES (April 8, 1988 in Japan), this month's creation is Billy Lee doing a jump kick! This magnet is made from Perler mini beads.
I've taken the liberty of giving this sprite a "16-bit remaster", with twice the colors of the original!
