Just A Dream is a 2D top-down shooter/roguelike hybrid that's more like a nightmare to play, thanks to its interesting (but poorly implemented) mechanics. You can find my initial thoughts on the game at 1:51:06 in the video above.
The menus are frustrating and unintuitive, and the UI simply isn't labeled. Several of the in-game weapons are questionably useful at best, which might not be a problem except that you're limited to what you can carry and you're at the mercy of RNG for availability.
Throughout multiple runs, you'll obtain currency that carries over and lets you purchase new abilities. This system is fine, but some of the point costs and powers feel really skewed. In some cases, the legendary (and most expensive) powers aren't even worth getting compared to cheaper abilities.
I can't really recommend Just A Dream in its current state, but it's one of those games that has the potential to be better just by adding some polish and balance.
